In case you missed it…

Oh, hi, everyone!

I am indeed still alive and survived my incredible adventures in Norway and Iceland!! It was one of the coolest trips EVER.

STOP. Don’t get your hopes up. I’m not about to get into a lengthy, all-over-the-place review of the trip complete with pictures. Sorry. I felt inspired to right at nearly midnight CST whilst out of town. What does that mean for you? Well. It means I’m writing (yay!) but sans pictures and not to review my trip at this time.

I am, however, going to whet your appetites for travel/my next trip! I leave in 1, yes ONE!, week for Canada! And then Alaska! This trip I’ll actually be traveling with different friends rather than my usual travel buddy. I’ve dubbed our group “The Maple Leafs” with my name being “Asian Maple” – catchy, eh? Ha! “Eh”. My Canada-speak is primed and ready! :D  Also, I am fully aware that “leafs” is NOT the correct plural form of leaf. But admit it, its so much better as “leafs” not “leaves”. Insert side eye emoji.

We’ll be exploring Alberta, Canada particularly Banff and Jasper National Parks. Glacial lakes, canoes, horseback riding, and white water rafting. Need I say more?! From Canada I’ll travel on without the other “Leafs” to Alaska to visit some friends there.

So now that I’ve gotten you super excited for my upcoming adventure, you only have to wait to hear about it/see pictures for hmmm… what, another 6-12 months? Insert crying laughing head tilted emoji. Guys, I’m really going to do better. Yes, that’s what they all say. But I’m likely the only one that continues to NOT do better. Soooo that just means it’ll be even more exciting when I actually do it!

As always, thanks for reading & sticking with me and my rare writing/musings! If you want to see photos from the trip (or other trips) you can follow my photography Instagram: @ISOSweetPhotography

Another Maternity Shoot!

Better late than never, eh?

So, in my last post, I promised some new blog posts to include Another Maternity Shoot. This shoot was another one of my good friends who is expecting her baby this month! Super exciting! Babies all around :) This shoot was sort of impromptu in that my friend and I had discussed taking pics but we didn’t really move forward on it for a while. Mayhaps it was my fault because work and service keep me busy. I finally got the ball rollin’ on the maternity shoot though! But let me continue to keep it real… I sort of had ulterior motives. Doesn’t everyone?

When I found out this set of friends was expecting, I thought an awesome baby gift would be their close friends fixing up their nursery for them! Everyone liked the idea (yay!) and so that was to be our Baby Room Makeover project. Yeah, we’re somewhat of our own local HGTV. If you haven’t figured it out, my ulterior motives for the photo shoot were so I could have some prints made to hang in the nursery.

We went to the Old Mill in North Little Rock (yes, the place that was in Gone With the Wind. No, I’ve not seen the movie but I do know that “Fun Fact”!) and it was a beautiful day to take pics! The only major issue was that it was a beautiful day. Everyone and their mama was out there taking pics too. Oh well. I was able to get some good shots of my friends and their bun in the oven!

And so began the task of figuring out how we wanted to decorate the nursery. The Makeover Team consisted of Amy, Tim, Thao/Zach, and myself! (We were all in their wedding too! Makes sense we did their room, huh?)  We’d already decided on some gender neutral colors – orange & aqua! Super cute, right?! Our friends already had their crib and chair so we needed just a few key items: side table, lamp, rug, wall shelves. Amy was able to find some of our key items and we also had some of the key items between the 5 of us. I decided for my pics that I wanted one large photo (portrait orientation) flanked on either side by a smaller square photo in frames. I was able to find exactly what I needed, and I love how it turned out. I was able to find some super cute items for the room sort of at the last minute, but I’m so glad I did. The room turned out SUUUUUPER cute, and I think our friends really liked it too. I sort of want to embark on an interior decorating/photography job!! Seriously. I love doing both! Anyway, take a look at some of their maternity pics and some pics of how the room turned out. Notice the stuffed animal planking. Gotta have fun with it! :)

I promise I will blog more! (Do you guys still find it interesting? I hope so! I feel like some posts aren’t quite as fun as when I’m traveling, but someone’s gotta work to fund the traveling! Oh wait. That’s me. DANG)

Lady With a Baby!

Don’t worry, I don’t mean me.

I mentioned in the last post that I was going to take one of my best friend’s maternity pics. Well, that was a few weeks ago… I sort of forgot to update you fine readers. Sorry!

Anywho, I took pics of my friend and her cute baby belly. I am really excited with how well they’ve turned out, but she’s a super cute mom-to-be so it wasn’t difficult to get good shots of her. Her husband was away most of the weekend I was there, but I was able to get a couple of shots with both of them albeit in lighting that is NOT preferred. Beggars can’t be choosers, though, right? I’m learning to develop an attitude of nonchalance… (HAHAHA. Were you able to pick up on my sarcasm?) I really do try to be nonchalant. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can’t.

So, please take a look at a couple of pics from the shoot at the end of the post. If you so desire to see the rest of the pics, peep my shutterfly share site! And also, tell your friends about me! ;)  Seriously. Budding photographer on the rise, right here. In the last couple of years, I’ve picked up my camera more (like I used to) and as has been the goal for a while now, I’d like to have my own photography business. I’m in the process of making it happen because I really enjoy it. At the moment,  these are the things I’m trying to do: 1)create a shop on Etsy where I can sell prints 2) make a better, more complete portfolio of my work.

If anyone has any clever ideas for shop names, please feel free to let me know. I’m all ears! (unless the name sucks, in which case I’ll have selective hearing :P) I really hope my writings don’t offend…

And coming posts to include: another maternity shoot, Local Lime foodie review, the RN life and more (I think!)

Thanks for reading!
